GI Steel Coil is usually packaged in bundles or coils, and then placed in containers for shipping. The bundles are strapped and sealed to secure the steel coils during transport. In addition, the steel coils may be wrapped in plastic sheeting or protective paper to prevent moisture or rusting during storage or transport.
For overseas shipments, GI Steel Coil is usually shipped as FCL (full container load) or LCL (less than a container load). The most common containers used for overseas shipping are 20-foot or 40-foot containers. The steel coils must be stacked in the container, and secured with straps or banding. Depending on the load capacity of the container, the overall weight of the cargo should not exceed the container’s maximum load capacity. In addition, the weight should be distributed evenly across the container.
